I lived in the small gold mining  village of WAIHI for nigh on 35yrs, saw its gradual but fateful change from an atmospheric old mining town to a cloned pretty image of what 'they' think it should be ....during those previous years I took many photos around and about the area, as the place slowly changed... as the heart of WAIHI was torn out and relocated as a mountain  of so much rubble in Golden Valley      
WAIKINO-KARANGAHAKE slumbering in the long grasses lay the  Mining relics of long ago.......
I photographed this at the start of the goldming in WaihiDitti as before this is photographed across to the old Cornish Pump house, now moved from that positionWaikino Power House
